7 Key Tips for Staying Healthy During Quarantine

The world is undergoing a period of significant change right now. If you’re like most people, you’re living in the middle of a time of quarantine, you’re being ordered to stay at home until the all-clear is given. While this is a confusing, chaotic time, focus on what you have control over  and take this time to focus on your health and well-being.

Here are some great tips that will enable you to prioritize your health during this tough time.

  1. Eat a Balanced Diet

As with any time in life, it’s important to follow healthy eating habits.  Even though this is a stressful time, don’t give in to your unhealthy cravings. Instead, surround yourself with healthy snacks and take the time to cook those new healthy meals that you’ve never had time to make. Since you are spending most of your time indoors, ensure that you are getting your Vitamin D through other sources such as salmon or canned tuna.

In addition, now is a good time to consider adding supplements to your diet to improve your overall health. If you want to relieve stress during this quarantine, take Melatonin or Kava. With all the changes that are happening throughout the world, it’s only natural to feel a little anxiety. If you’re like most people, this anxiety has led to stress and sleep disturbances. Try your best during this quarantine to get enough sleep each night. On the other hand, it’s also important that you do not oversleep. This can be a sign of depression or mood disorders. Aim to get between seven to nine hours of sleep every night and try to go to sleep at the same time each night. Embrace the work-from-home order and use this time to catch up on precious sleep, but keep your sleep schedule in order. Having a set bedtime signals to your brain that it’s time to relax and go to sleep. Proper sleep allows your body and mind to repair and recharge after a long day, so be sure to prioritize sleep during this troubling time.

  1. Establish A Routine

In these times of uncertainty, you can feel stressed, scared, sad, and anxious, which can take a hit on your mental well-being. It is important to remember to focus on the things that you can control in your life, and holding yourself to a daily routine can help improve your mental health. One way you can maintain a normal daily routine is by sticking to regular mealtimes and planning your days in advance. You could also get out of bed at a reasonable time to maximize your time during the day, set aside a part of your day for self-care, and go to bed at a sensible hour. This will ensure that you will remain productive and motivated during those long quarantine days.

  1. Explore Nature

Enjoying the great outdoors is a great way to relieve the stress and tension that you are likely experiencing. A walk around the block can do a world of good. Or, you could spend some time working on your landscaping, beautifying your property as you get some fresh air. You could plant a garden in your backyard or simply move from your desk to your patio to do your work. In addition, you could also get in your daily workout by going for a hike or a bike ride on some nearby trails. Take this newfound time to explore your neighborhood or city and discover new places that you otherwise would have never found. Nature has a way of reducing anxiety and depression, so time spent in nature may be just what you need to set your mind on a more positive course.

  1. Keep in Touch

Now, more than ever, you’ll need to rely on positive relationships to get through the challenges of life. Isolation isn’t good for anyone’s health, so reach out to the positive people in your life. Although you can’t spend time together in person, there are plenty of ways to stay connected at a distance. Call your loved ones on the phone and take the time to have a long chat. Schedule a time to have an online video chat with one of your closest friends. Staying social is crucial for your mental health. Your friends and family are your support network, and, in times like these, they likely need your support as well.

  1. Get Your Information from Reliable Sources

It is no secret that there is a lot of misinformation surrounding COVID-19 on the Internet and around social media. To relieve feelings of stress or anxiety, It is important we get our information from reliable and trustworthy sources, such as government websites or websites of trusted national or international organizations such as WHO, EFSA, OR ECDC. It’s crucial to stay informed on the best practices and current regulations to stay safe during this time. However, we should try to minimize watching any news that causes us anxiety and is affecting our mental health.

Don’t forget to practice habits just because you’re stuck inside. It can be very easy to neglect healthy habits when you are feeling unmotivated and unproductive, but embrace this unique time to improve your lifestyle. Use this quarantine to improve your health and start becoming the best version of yourself. By following these five simple tips, you’ll make it through this difficult time in a healthy and positive way!
